WinStart V1.0
Copyright 1992, Andrew P Duggan
Thank you for choosing WinStart.
Control the clutter when starting Windows 3.0. If you use the load or
run lines in Win.ini to start applications automatically each time you
start Windows, but hate rearranging the screen, then you need WinStart.
WinStart extends the load and run options of Win.ini, while providing a
better interface for changing what programs are run every time you start
Windows 3.0. WinStart allows you start any Windows program:
o Minimized (Iconic)
o Maximized (Full Screen)
o Placed to any location
o With any document loaded automatically.
Installation:
o Backup all important files, especially Win.ini.
o Expand Winstart files into your Windows directory.
o Create a Program Manager Icon for the WinStart control program.
- Choose File New Menu item
- Select Program Item, Click OK.
- Enter Description: WinStart Control
- Enter Command Line: StartCtl
- Click OK.
A new icon will be created in the program group for WinStart
Control program.
o Start WinStart Control program by double clicking it's icon.
o For each item in the Win.ini line load=, create a new item
in WinStart. Click the Minimize button to start these as icons.
o For each item in the Win.ini line run=, create a new item in
WinStart.
o To activate the automatic window placement click the Position
check box.
o Choose the Save option from the WinStart File Menu.
o Edit Win.ini
- Comment out the existing load= and run= lines.
- Add a new run= and a new load= line.
- Set the load= line to read:
load= WinStart
- Save your Win.ini
